Stuart is a contemporary artist who was born, lives and works in Edinburgh, Scotland. Graduating first from Edinburgh College in Contemporary Art Practice in 2019 providing him with the skills and ability to progress and study Art and Contemporary Practices at the University of Highlands and Islands in Perth, graduating in October 2023.
Location and the natural environment have played a massive part in Stuart’s practice focusing on the rural landscape, specifically the textural qualities it offers. The relationship between space, personal and communal and the way in which people interact with their own natural environment has played a defining role in the development of Stuarts areas of interests.
Delving into the natural environment was a safe space for Stuart during the Coronavirus Pandemic, understanding the transformative powers of nature and what personal space means, has allowed Stuart to move away from traditional methods and discover a new practice.
