I had thought about including scented squares on the artwork titled Pocket Squares but decided against it as it created too much of a distraction to what the artwork was about. Continuing with natural dyes I have taken my focus on to the scents that we can capture during this process and our how we can relate specific scents from the garden with childhood memories as it has been proven in a study by international journal of therapeutic communities.

This artwork aims to achieve that as it has been filled with recycled and shredded fabric scraps which have been mixed with dried mint and lemon balm to evoke memories from your childhood. After many conversations my decision to choose those two specific scents as they are extremely pungent and memorable for anyone who was outdoors as a child. I would like to take this artwork forward to make a series of scented pockets as to evoke more memories and responses from a public.
