I wanted to continue with the theme of texture but In a far more subtle way. I achieved this through my choice of fabric experimenting with around three to four types. I found the first type of fabric I used to be most successful as it had a rough natural quality and appearance to it linking back to the theme of the project well.

All of the above fabric swatches are different colour variations, yet all look the same due to natural sunlight. I have used old material for this as I felt recycling what I had was very fitting with the theme of the project.

To dye the fabric I have used Soil, plant leaves, sticks grass to dye the recycled material taking things from the natural environment that it will be photographed In keeping the connections with the project and the location current.

I created a short video looking at the layers of the dyed piece of fabric once folded. Exploring the raw natural qualities that it possesses also looking at how it is a present and living reminder of the space that it came from and was influenced by.

These are some stills taken from the above video. I am extreamley happy with the shadows coming through the windows interacting, conversing and dancing with the fabric.

Going on from this I decided to go out into the garden and place it in the tree. The object that was interacting with the fabric through the window. This made an interesting video piece and I really liked the sounds that it picked up.

The video looks at the trees being something that stands observing everything. The fabric has been hand dyed using natural materials found in woodlands. Also using ash and soil to get an aged appearance to the surface of the fabric. The placement of the fabric in the tree is paying homage to all of the rubbish that gets blown into the woodland and caught up in trees and plants.

These are some stills from the above video capturing the movement of the fabric in the wind and the way that it interacts with the space and the tree.
