Collaborative project 2 started off as a speed dating session. I know what it sounds like and I was slightly confused in the beginning as well. The exercise was basically to find out what music student would best suit our practice and vice versa. We spoke about our interests, hobbies, artists and musicians to gain a better idea of what the music students were like.

I really enjoyed the whole speed dating like process even through it was quite awkward to begin with but this was down to the fact that neither class had participated in an activity like this before. It was also slightly difficult to talk to people who hadn’t filled out the information sheet prior to the activity. This was to find out what the music students were like as we were only given a few minutes to chat to each student keeping the conversation very fast pace.

Once the session was over we told to email our lecturer a list of our top three music students that we would like to collaborate with for the duration of the project. As there was an odd number on our part our collaboration was between both myself and another BA hons Art and Contemporary Practices student Martine Dos Reis and BA hons Music student Kayleigh Myles.

I was so happy with my collaborative partners as I know Martine already from previous projects and know that she looks at similar themes within her work to me exploring nature and natural surroundings I am confident that we will be able to work well together. I haven’t worked with Kayleigh before, but I am excited and looking forward to seeing her working style and find out more about her as a musician and her style as the collaboration progresses. Kayleigh has also expressed an interest in nature and the preservation of it today.

After finding out that I would be working and collaborating with Martine and Kayleigh we all had to individually come up with a project proposal plan outlining our ideas for the project biased on COP 26.

I think the topic or starting point of COP26 is verry fitting both with the times we live in be that mass pollution and the ever-rising sea levels as the project could be taken/ manipulated in so many ways. I haven’t collaborated with other artists in this way before so I am looking forward to seeing what we can make in the time given and to what my collaborative partners can bring to the project.

I am excited to see what Martine and Kayleigh bring to the table all bringing part of our personal style to the project. My stimulus is nature looking at patters within nature and the lifecycle and regeneration of the garden each year.

Yesterday I received a group email from both Kayleigh and Martine arranging our first collaborative meeting to discuss the project in more detail. We all responded rather quickly which was a relief and we decided that this would be the best form of communication for the project as keeping up to date and in contact is incredibly important.
