Balance of The Elements – Resolved

This artwork has been an enjoyable piece to make especially as its my final artwork for this academic year. I have really liked my route of experimentation primarily working in two dimensional to begin with then progressing into three dimensional. With inspiration taken form Ian Hamilton Finally, Barbara Hepworth and Robert Therrien these artists have helped re-direct my route of inquiry and boost my confidence when it comes to creating a three dimensional artwork.

The resolved artwork is titled ‘Balancing Act’, balancing the objects from the garden in this case it’s a branch from a tree. The cross strapping allows the artwork to move freely in the wind in all directions. It also provides interesting shadows on the ground. unfortunately they didn’t capture very well in the photograph above. If I was to further develop this artwork and continue with it I would make it more polished making a strong wooden structure for the objects to be exhibited in with a plinth. This would add to the importance and significance of the object and the artwork as a whole.
