Selecting my collaborative partners for this project has been quite the struggle to say the least. I have had many attempts at choosing a public to participate in this final collaboration of the semester. This has been a big learning curve as for the last two collaborative projects my collaborative partners have been decided for us which now I look back on it was a blessing.
At first I wanted to conduct this workshop in partnership with my placement at Edinburgh College, although due to a delay in me starting I had to abandon that initial idea. This left me feeling disappointed and a little lost as to who to engage with when it came to conducting the workshop.
I then tried to contact local schools as I know that around this time of year they have activity weeks as a treat for students prior to the summer holidays. I contacted five of the local schools and only two got back to me and they both said no, due to the current uncertainty in regards to covid and hosting an event with large groups of students.
So back to the drawing board it was…
It was after a long chat with my partner that he suggested hosting a workshop with my family giving them an opportunity to be involved in my practice which is something that they have often questioned with curiosity. I have only ever collaborated with my mum and sister on a performance artwork as part of my HND at Edinburgh College so I was exited and raring to go as I had been sharing my downfalls and disappointments to date with them.
