16th December 2021
Our first meeting as a collaborative group went really well. Everyone was fast to agree that we would look at different types of deforestation in relation to the brief of COP 26 and the impact we humans are having on the worlds forests and natural eco systems. It was nice for Martine and myself to have more of an informal chat with Kayleigh and get to know her a bit better out with University.
I sent both collaborators over a link to my blog and instagram to get an idea of my style of work and Kayleigh emailed over some of her sound pieces that she had made previously for Martine and I to listen to. We both decided to make some artworks inspired by the music looking at mark making in relation to the beats in the sound track.
My initial thoughts when not comes to deforestation is the ever growing population and the way house developers are calming more and more forests and fields as time passes. I also think of natural forest fires like the ones in Australia due to ever-growing doubt and rising temperatures wiping out large sections of natural forests and animals habitats.
When I think of deforestation colours that come to mind are red, black, orange and browns all in natural earthy tones linking back to the planet. I still need to take these notes forward to the group in the next meeting and see what they think.
The 16th December was our last day in University before the Christmas break. As a group we had outlined some tasks that we wanted to achieve over the festive break such as some artist research and experimentation with media.
I am really happy at where we are s a group at such an early stage within the project and look forward to what the rest of the project has to offer and I am looking forward to seeing what we can all individually produce over Christmas break and bring to the the next meeting in the new year.
