Whilst being down in York in June it was a lovely surprise to have come across an immersive Vincent Van Gogh exhibition in St. Marys church. The immersive video included some of his most famous paintings which have been brought to life through the amazing technology we have at our fingertips today! as if it were real life unfolding infant of your eyes.
There were projectors all around the room encompassing yourself in these masterpieces like a cozy blanket giving you a personal connection to Van Gogh, giving you an understanding as to why he chose these landscapes etc.
The immersive video lasted 35 minutes and was on a loop, so believe me when I say I could have sat there all day because I could have without a shadow of a doubt. The music that was playing was extremely moving making you really think about the artists life and his journey.
As well as lying back in a deck chair watching the immersive compilation of Van Gogh’s work you could take part and have a go at colouring in one of his masterpieces. This was probably directed at younger viewers but I couldn’t resist having a go!
After having all the enjoyment of colouring in I decided to give the Virtual Reality headsets a go where it took you on a journey of Van Gogh through the fields showing you some of the now famous locations where he decided to paint.
